As of 2027 Belltower has a training facility in Bangalore.

Behind the scenes

Bangalore was supposed to be one of the playable city hubs in Deus Ex: Human Revolution similar to Detroit and Hengsha, with Belltower Associates having their headquarters there. Instead of a return visit to Hengsha, Adam Jensen would travel to Bangalore and infiltrate Belltower HQ. However, the Bangalore map ended up being cut even before production began, and its content and story were folded into the second visit to Hengsha.

There's a place I've always wanted to go in Deus Ex. [...] It was Bangalore in India. I think India is the perfect place for cyberpunk. It'd make a very new spin on it as well because the cyberpunk from the 80s and 90s mixed with Japanese and Asian culture, like Bladerunner and Shadowrun and all those things. That's perfectly fine but we've seen quite a lot of it.

What I think is interesting about going to India is that we could create a similar feeling with different results. A mix of Eastern and Western culture, with all the same types of neon but with Sanskrit text, and all the symbolism from Hinduism mixed into it. And you still have all of these cluttered spaces, packed with people. It's a place of extremes, in wealth, in class, in culture, all side by side.

Bangalore was imagined as a technological city that rose on the height of the technology boom, but then it all fell apart. As the economy declined, some people became scavengers - they salvaged and repurposed tech to try and make living of that. There was also a local crime lord whom Jensen would meet in Bangalore.

When Bangalore was cut, scavengers became Hengsha's Harvesters and Tong Si Hung's role was expanded as a result. Locations that Jensen was supposed to visit, such as Belltower HQ, were moved to Upper Hengsha. After Upper Hengsha was cut too, the Belltower HQ building was removed entirely, and the Spec Ops who were supposed to be in a secret area of Belltower HQ were moved to the barracks in Omega Ranch.
