Candy bars are consumable items in Deus Ex. Consuming a candy bar restores 2 HP. Candy bars can be found in game environments and can also be purchased from vending machines for 2 credits. Multiple candy bars stack in the inventory. A total of 20 candy bars can be carried.
Description[]
Use[]
Candy bars can be used as low-efficacy substitutes for medkits.
In Battery Park, two homeless children will exchange info about the NSF for candy bars or other food items.
Trivia[]
- The texture of the world object shows the brand "Chunko-Honey." However, the item's inventory icon instead shows the brand "MontyBites." The "MontyBites" brand also exists as a world object texture in the game files, but is not used in the game.
- "MontyBites" candy bars would later make an appearance in Deus Ex: Invisible War. In Invisible War, there is no inconsistency between the world object texture and the inventory texture.
- The name "MontyBites" is based on the name of Deus Ex designer Monte Martinez.[1][2]
- "Chunkohoney" also appears as a password for a computer in the LaGuardia Helibase.
- The description of the candy bars is a reference to the film Soylent Green,[1] in which the film's protagonist discovers that the eponymous protein wafer bars are made out of people.
