Deus Ex: The Fall has ingame eBooks with gameplay-related or background information. Picking up a book gives you the "Scholar" bonus of 150 XP, with a total of 2100 XP for reading all 14 books. Most books are duplicated in several places throughout the game, which makes it easier to discover the books.

- You get the Scholar bonus only the first time you read each book; reading copies of an already read book does not give extra XP.
- Apart from the Scholar bonus, Deus Ex: The Fall does not have achievements/trophies for reading all or specific books (unlike, for example, the Doctorate achievement in Deus Ex: Human Revolution).
