In his mid-thirties, Pritchard possesses a keen intellect and an ability to comprehend complex patterns (such as data sets) very rapidly, but often has difficulty ‘thinking outside the box.’ The very opposite of a man of action, at first sight he appears almost lazy, but in fact his behavior stems from his physical weakness. He overcompensates with the ferocity of his arrogance and his intellectual skills.

Having spent much of his formative years around those who were physically superior but intellectually inferior to him, Pritchard has developed an acerbic and arrogant manner toward all those he encounters. His default assumption is that everyone he meets is not as smart as he is, and he is completely unaware that his conceited behavior prevents him from making any real emotional contact.

Jensen grew up in Detroit, where money was always tight, and his family could have used a second income. Often, his family would take him on ‘an adventure’ they couldn’t afford. However, many of Jensen’s happiest memories stem from these trips, but all are tinged with uncertainty and guilt.

Today, at 34 years of age, Jensen tends to be a loner rather than a leader. He believes there are multiple ways to achieve a desired result, and instinctively looks for answers from himself first, consulting others only after his own ideas are exhausted. He is instinctively aware of his surroundings at all times, and moves through them with a combination of casual poise and focused determination.

Left on her own more often than not, she compensated by developing a rich inner life. Today, her fertile imagination enables Reed to connect information and extrapolate it toward a theoretical endpoint in great intuitive leaps.

Unfortunately, she also has a tendency to become so focused on her thoughts that everything else fades in the background. As a result, relationships with others have suffered.

When confronted on this, she will at first ignore the criticism, and when that no longer works, will feign innocence as a way of pushing social boundaries -- again, to see what she can get away with.

Although in general an easy-going woman, it doesn't take much to get Faridah's back up. If she thinks she's been insulted, she'll cuss you out fit to turn a sailor's ears red. If she thinks you're being stupid, she won't hesitate to tell you so, possibly even striking you if she thinks you deserve it. She'll often regret it afterward, though, and she doesn't hold a grudge.

Born in the former Russian state of Georgia in 2001, Yelena grew up as a rebellious child among a community of Ethnic Russians who opposed Georgia’s independence. In 2016, while still a teenager, a series of clashes between Georgians and Ethnic Russians forced Yelena and her family to seek refuge in the hills. Unfortunately, militia groups from both sides were fighting over control of those hills – and in one terrible night, Yelena saw all of her loved ones ruthlessly attacked and murdered by soldiers. She was lucky to escape the carnage by hiding, but being forced to watch helplessly as those she loved were killed caused something inside of her to snap. Since that day, she has not uttered a word, preferring to let her actions and movements speak for her.

Today, Yelena is a ruthless and resourceful combatant, never choosing frontal assault when another approach will more easily destroy her enemies with less effort. When she moves, she does so with unexpected agility, speed, and grace -- a sleepy-eyed cobra uncoiling rapidly as it strikes. Well aware of being one of few women in a man’s world, Yelena has become adept at vigilance and is cautious of everything around her; she’s not easy to sneak up on, and usually has a plan for every eventuality.

In 2022, Namir called in favors from global contacts to flee the Middle East with his wife and kids. He brought his family to London, where a close friend offered him a job working for Belltower. Namir recognized this as a lifeline, and gladly accepted the position. He has served them with unswerving devotion ever since.

Today, he is the consummate soldier, unswervingly loyal to his allies and ruthless with his enemies. Iron-willed and merciless, he is well accustomed to using secret and underhanded means to achieve his ends.

Lawrence Barrett

Today, Barrett’s bullying past is reflected in his domineering stance and methodical, lumbering movements. He is the type of man who will never surrender or retreat, and will fight his enemies to the death.

In his mid-50’s, Taggart is, by education, a psychologist. By nature, he’s a consummate politician — one who radiates wisdom, dependability, calmness and strength, rather than aggressive power. In his heart of hearts, he knows he is one of a very small elite whose understanding of human nature and societal trends bestows upon him the right, and the obligation, to lead mankind down the path it must follow. But he also knows he must never express this truth directly to the masses.

Isaias Sandoval

Isaias Sandoval is a doctor turned political activist. At a time when people are using cybernetic implants to alter and improve their mental and physical abilities, he believes that bio-modification is dangerous. As a result, he's working as the second-in-command at the Humanity Front to have the practice outlawed worldwide.

Before joining the Humanity Front, Sandoval was working as a doctor in the ER. It was there that he first saw the dangers of bio-modification, as people whose bodies began rejecting their implants came in. Years later, the danger hit closer to home, when a close friend, a mechanically-enhanced veteran of the Second Gulf War, went on a rampage in a shopping mall. Sandoval was unable to talk him down, but someone else could: Bill Taggart, the charismatic man who founded the Humanity Front.

It was a life-changing moment for Isaias. Feeling a debt of gratitude he could never repay, he quit his job to work at the Humanity Front. Since then, he has offered Bill Taggart complete trust and loyalty, doing whatever the man asks without question. Now in his late 40’s, and safe in the knowledge that Taggart will always be there campaigning on his behalf, Sandoval is able to quell any doubts and concentrate on the task at hand.

Tong Si Hung

He is highly intelligent and has an uncanny instinct for forging alliances that will inevitably profit him in some way. Exactly how he’ll profit is rarely understood by anyone but Tong until after the deal is made. In a city that’s ruled by a cutthroat multinational corporation and policed by rather brutal military contractors, Tong does what he has to, to survive.

He’s therefore never afraid to get brutal. Yet despite this, Tong sees himself as a man who lives according to a strong moral code. Nothing is more important to him than family and keeping one’s word. He maintains an air of culture and outward civility at all times, and is even capable of genuine acts of kindness, should the situation allow it.

Zhao Yun Ru

A petite and elegant woman in her early 40s, Zhao Yun Ru is the president of Tai Yong Medical. Yun Ru moves with a careful, fluid grace that’s almost cat-like, never making expansive or large gestures unless she is highly agitated.

Zhao seems an unthreatening presence at first glance, an impression she does her best to further in order to wrong-foot her enemies. It’s only her eyes, cold and hard like chips of sea ice, that betray her true character. Yun Ru is arrogant, manipulative, driven, and uninhibited. She plays the notes she must in order to draw the responses she needs, and feels no guilt at her behavior -- merely contempt for those who fall for her wiles.

If Zhao does have an Achilles’ heel, it’s this: she’s never had to confront real danger. For years, she’s been skirting the edge of it, following the orders of men more powerful than she while silently chaffing under their restrictions. Zhao secretly fears that the day will come when their patience with her chaffing will be exhausted. On that day, she expects to know true terror once and for all.

Zeke Sanders

Zeke Sanders leads a group of militant political extremists who believe that the human body is sacred, and those who choose to get augmented are traitors to mankind. He and his followers vow to end all forms of bio-modification “without exception, without compromise, and without apology”.

He grew up in Los Angeles, but left home at 17 to join the Corps. In 2009 in Afghanistan, shrapnel from a roadside bomb took out his left eye and ear, and should have sent him immediately stateside, but the US military had other plans. They offered to surgically replace his damaged organs with cutting-edge, technologically-enhanced mechanical ones, free-of-charge, provided that he re-enlist. Within a year Zeke was back on the front lines, seeing things and doing things with his augmented senses that still haunt him to this day.

Now in his late 30’s, and having spiraled through a post-traumatic darkness following the war that nearly led to his own demise, Sanders is radically opposed to augmentations. He has removed his enhancements, and covers his missing eye with a patch. Zeke also has a number of tattoos on his arms, including a United States Marine Corps sigil. He walks with a swagger and the air of a soldier.

Wayne Haas

Currently in his late 30s, Wayne Haas is a Desk Sergeant for the Detroit Police Department. Although once a proud and confident member of S.W.A.T., he has fallen far in recent years, and now projects the aura of a broken man trying to turn his life around.

A lifelong resident of Detroit, Haas went straight into the police academy after graduating high school, and did well enough to get accepted into S.W.A.T., rising to second-in-command of a team. His life changed overnight in a siege situation when his superior, Adam Jensen, was ordered to fire upon a physically-augmented fifteen-year-old boy. Jensen refused the order; Haas carried it out. This led to a bloodbath and Jensen's resignation from the force.

Troubled by feelings of guilt and thoughts of his own son, Haas fell into a downward spiral of depression. He lost his position on S.W.A.T., and it was only when he recognized the danger of losing his family that he finally got help. Now he is struggling to forgive himself and rebuild, knowing that his Desk Sergeant position is his last chance to preserve what's left of his career.

David Sarif

Then, in 2027, the Aug Incident hit, plunging the world into chaos. Society turned against augmented people, and the industry that had created them crashed. Sarif’s company, personal fortune, and dreams crashed with it.

Two years after the Incident, Sarif is an older, wiser, slightly more reserved version of the man he was before. He’s still wealthy; still direct when dealing with others; and still believes in progress, science and technology, and human endeavor. He also continues to hold onto an idealistic belief in a mechanically-enhanced mankind. He’s just learned to be patient and let others carry the banner into the spotlight for him, for now.

Jim Miller

Viktor Marchenko

Viktor Marchenko is an outspoken member of the Augmented Rights Coalition. Unlike Talos Rucker, he has more radical leanings, and his charismatic personality allows him to sway opinions and rile up his followers.

Heavily augmented, with both his right eye and his two arms having been replaced, he is thought to be responsible for organizing multiple attacks that he believes will help to further their cause. However, Marchenko is not just a brutish hulk; he is extremely intelligent, and is well versed in the history of past revolutionaries.

Talos Rucker

Talos Rucker is the leader of the Augmented Rights Coalition (ARC). He is a passionate, principled and charismatic leader who advocates non-violence and political activism over violent terrorism. But someone is conducting acts of terrorism and framing ARC for them, thereby discrediting the entire Aug Rights Movement, and making Talos Rucker Task Force 29's primary target.

As public opinion continues to turn against him and his cause, Rucker is painfully aware that time is running out. He suspects a conspiracy is at hand, one that is not only targeting ARC, but all augmented people.

Elias Chikane

Chikane, Adam’s VTOL pilot for Task Force 29, is both professional and dedicated in his work. With a strong military background, he is able to use his experience as an elite pilot to give him the extra edge when helping to exfiltrate Adam out of a tight spot.

However, the tension between himself and Adam is, at times, palpable. This is largely in part due to his suspicion of all augmented people, stemming from the fact that his left knee was badly damaged by an Aug during the Aug Incident. As a result, Chikane refused to be augmented, passing up on a more advanced cybernetic in favor of his current, more traditional leg brace.

Alex Vega

Now she’s supporting Jensen with his investigation into Task Force 29 in order to determine if they are, in fact, a puppet of the Illuminati. She facilitated Jensen's entry into the Task Force, and acts as a go-between for him and Janus.

Vaclav Koller

Peter Chang

Accepting a position at TF29 rather than face jail, Chang now applies his skills towards hunting cybercriminals and terrorist hackers, which allows him to continue accessing the technology he loves.
