The Chiang Arcbot Model 2, also known as the Mini-SpiderBot, is a type of robot appearing in Deus Ex. It is a maintenance bot that also serves as a security bot.

The Chiang Arcbot Model 2 was only recently introduced, a radical departure from Chiang's usually conservative line of industrial bots. Constructed on an arachnid frame, the Model 2 can adeptly maneuver in environments that would be difficult for other repair bots to access. With the addition of a comprehensive array of repair tools, it becomes ideally suited for damage control and building maintenance. But the truly inspired touch by the normally staid Chiang engineers was the ability for the Arcbot to utilize it's bioelectric discharge capacitor as a non-lethal weapon, allowing it to protect itself from potential vandals and perform double-duty patrolling otherwise unsecured portions of infrastructure. However, the Arcbot's big brother, the Model 5, is almost exclusively used for riot control...

Characteristics

The Arcbot Model 2 is armed with a special energy weapon (known internally as WeaponSpiderBot2) that inflicts both shock damage and EMP damage. Shock damage drains health, while EMP damage drains bioelectric energy. The Arcbot Model 2 has the lowest amount of health of any hostile robot, making it vulnerable to shotgun SABOT rounds in addition to explosives. However, this robot has a high movement speed and will often attack as part of a group.

Locations

The Arcbot Model 2 is rare until the mid-game but becomes becomes relatively common later on.

• VersaLife Nanotech Containment Facility - Two appear when destroying the Universal Constructor.
• Brooklyn Naval Shipyards - Three appear in the sewers if triggering the blue lasers.
• PRCS Wall Cloud – Six in the building's fan area, one in the electronics bay and one below it if triggering a blue laser.
• Ocean Lab – Two appear if you trigger the lasers and activate the alarm.
• Area 51 – In sector 4, a universal constructor endlessly manufactures this robot.
