The Costa Rica Safe House is the home of Sam Duarte's parents and is located in Santa Lucia, Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica. The location appears in the novel Deus Ex: Icarus Effect and the game Deus Ex: The Fall.
Icarus Effect[]
After escaping from the Tyrants in Switzerland, Anna Kelso and Ben Saxon arrive at the safe house for hiding. Kelso and Saxon are greeted by the parents of Sam Duarte, Saxon's former colleague in Belltower who was supposedly killed in Operation Rainbird. The Duartes welcome Saxon as a friend.
The Fall[]
At the safe house, Saxon and Kelso are running out of Neuropozyne. Saxon contacts Janus, who advises Saxon to go to Panama City to find new supply. Saxon leaves for Panama City, while Anna stays behind to dig up more information on the Tyrants. After Saxon encounters Sam Duarte in Panama City, learning to his surprise that Sam is actually alive and has joined the tyrants, Saxon warns Anna not to return to the safe house, as their position has been likely compromised.
