If Deus Ex: Human Revolution was pre-ordered for a certain platform from the proper retailers in certain countries, the game came packaged with certain bonuses exclusive to one or shared by many versions. There are currently 5 known pre-order packs. The Explosive Mission Pack and the Tactical Enhancement Pack were later made available for independent purchase through Steam, the Xbox Live Marketplace, and the PlayStation Network, making all in-game pre-order content unlockable for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 players, respectively.

Ultimate Edition[]

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Ultimate Edition was released on Mac OS X as a complete version of the game containing all DLC and expansion packs. It was developed and published by Feral Interactive on March 26, 2012.[7] To date, the Ultimate Edition has only been released on the Mac. It contains:

  • The full game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
  • The Missing Link.
  • The Explosive Mission expansion pack.
  • The Tactical Enhancement expansion pack.
  • The 40-page Artbook.
  • The 44-minute film showing the Eidos Montréal office through development.
  • The animated version of the Deus Ex: Human Revolution comic made by DC Comics.
  • The Deus Ex: Human Revolution Soundtrack, composed by Michael McCann.
  • The E3 trailers and Animated Storyboard.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Ultimate Edition received a 2012 Apple Design Award as part of the Mac Developer Showcase.[8][9]

Note[]

  • Despite providing early access to powerful gear, the contents received from DLC packs and/or the Limited Edition bonuses actually put the player at a disadvantage, as the added weapons are rather large and take up a lot of valuable inventory space. This is especially straining considering how small Jensen's inventory is when the items are deposited.
    • Also, the provided bonus items are even more of a hindrance to stealth or Pacifist-centric playstyles, as all of them are either lethal weaponry or explosives.
  • If the Director's Cut upgrade was purchased digitally through GameStop or Steam then the stock game, if already owned, will be granted all DLCs upon installing the upgrade, including the Missing Link story missions, which are seamlessly grafted into the main plot flow.
