Exploded is a damage type in Deus Ex. "Exploded" is one of the most common damage types in the game, and is caused by several weapons with exploding projectiles, among other sources of this damage type. "Exploded" is an internal name that only appears in game files.
When "Exploded" damage is taken by the player, the HUD will display a flaming damage indicator icon. This icon is the same as the icon used for the "Flamed" and "Burned" damage types.
Special properties[]
- Organic targets whose last bit of health is removed by "exploded" damage will gib, resulting in the destruction of their inventory.
- "Exploded" damage that fails to meet the minimum damage threshold of objects of the DeusExDecoration class (including turrets, alarm panels, and security cameras) will still damage these objects, but incoming damage is reduced to 25%. This property is shared with the "sabot" damage type. "Exploded" damage that meets the threshold will still inflict full damage.
- This property does not apply to objects of the DeusExMover class, which includes doors and breakable structure.
Resistance[]
- No non-player character, animal, or robot has resistance against "exploded" damage. "Exploded" and "sabot" are the only damage types that inflict full damage against robots.
- For the player, resistance is provided by Ballistic Armor and also by the Energy Shield augmentation.
Damage sources[]
Some weapons inflict "exploded" damage only for specific types of ammunition, as indicated below. All sources of "exploded" damage cause damage in the form of an explosion.
- Weapons
- Assault Rifle (20 mmHE ammunition)
- GEP Gun (normal rockets)
- LAW
- LAM
- Player-only weapons
- Non-weapon sources (non-exhaustive list)
- Destruction of explosive/flammable barrels
- Destruction of TNT Crates
- Death explosions of Men in Black and Women in Black
- Destruction explosions of robots
