"The GEP gun is a relatively recent invention in the field of armaments: a portable, shoulder-mounted launcher that can fire rockets and laser guide them to their target with pinpoint accuracy. While suitable for high-threat combat situations, it can be bulky for those agents who have not grown familiar with it."
— description of Guided Explosive Projectile (GEP) Gun, Deus Ex

The Guided Explosive Projectile (GEP) gun is a heavy skill weapon in Deus Ex.

Background

Probably the 2052 successor to the FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missile.

Game item

Very few enemies use it, but Paul will offer it to you at the start of the game. If you don't get it from him, you can find it at one of the security towers in the Airfield. It can be reloaded, which gives it a major advantage over the LAW. It must be reloaded after every shot, so users should be in a safe spot before firing.

The GEP gun is a versatile weapon - it can take out groups of enemies with ease, destroy multiple turrets and cameras with one missile, break down doors of any strength short of Infinite and it's your best offense against robots. In addition, ammo is relatively common and it's effective no matter what your Heavy Weapons skill is - a single rocket will kill anything in the game except for the military bot and Chiang Arcbot Model 5.

The white phosphorus rockets can be used if enemies are spread around a larger area, as it will set them on fire just like the flamethrower. They only do damage against organics. If a player is standing too close to the blast they will also be ignited, so it is best to take caution or carry a fire extinguisher.
