- For the same augmentation in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, see Augmentations (DXHR)#Implanted Rebreather.
Implanted Rebreather returns as an augmentation in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. However, it now uses up energy so one must keep an eye on their levels or else they can die unexpectedly from toxins.
Description[]
- Concealed in the chest cavity, the Implanted Rebreather augmentation activates in the presence of increased or difficult breathing scenarios.
- It can be upgraded with a variety of breathing augmentations to provide superior defense against inhaled toxins, biological agents, apnea, asphyxiation, and other respiratory dangers.
- Implant a pulmonary rebreather system.
- Activation cost: 2 Praxis
- Activation: automatic
- Energy consumption: low
Upgrades[]
Chemical Resistance[]
- The Implanted Rebreather is frequently coupled with a Second Membrane chemical air filter to prevent acute injury from inhaled toxins or biological agents.
- The Second Membrane Chemical Resistance augmentation contains a narrow strip of fiberglass laminated with titanium dioxide (TiO2).[1] A drip-feed of biocell energy keeps the TiO2 electrified such that it continuously breaks apart toxic chemicals, producing water vapor and other harmless molecules.
- Almost all dangerous inhaled agents can be broken down in this fashion, rendering the user safely immune to a broad spectrum of weaponized toxins.
- Prevent damage from inhaled toxins.
- Activation cost: N/A
- Activation: automatic
- Energy consumption: low
Notes[]
- This augmentation activates automatically.
- When it activates, it does not decrease maximum biocell capacity.
- While it may be "upgraded with a variety of breathing augmentations", there is only one available: Chemical Resistance.
- Implanted Rebreather does not replace the entire lungs.
Trivia[]
- The symbol of the Chemical Resistance upgrade is a biohazard symbol.
- ↑ Currently, Titanium (IV) oxide is used as white paint and sunscreen blocking pigment. Using TiO2 as a pollutant breaker is still under research.
