Louis Pan is a boy appearing in the Wan Chai market in Deus Ex. He works for the Luminous Path triad[1] and is an apparent apprentice to Gordon Quick.

Louis can be initially seen at the news stand, where he is attempting to extract protection money from the woman who is the news stand's vendor.[1] The vendor, who believes that the Red Arrow will soon take control, refuses to pay for the protection money and tells him to "run along." Louis then reports to Gordon Quick, telling Gordon that the vendor was very rude. He then returns to the news stand and steals 100 credits. After reporting his success to Gordon, Louis returns to the vendor, telling her that he will become her "watchman" for 50 credits per day.
If Louis is killed or knocked unconscious, Gordon Quick will become angry, with separate dialogue for either situation. However, this won't affect the player's progress nor will it turn Gordon Quick hostile.

- A datacube in Maggie Chow's apartment contains a message, signed "Louis," that reads: "Hello Maggie! I swear I will never forget your birthday again! July 18th is marked on my calendar forever!"[2] While never explicitly addressed, the datacube suggests that Louis has a close relationship with Maggie Chow and may not be fully loyal to Gordon.
- The game script indicates that Louis was intended to disappear from the map after JC unites the Traids. However, due to a coding oversight, Louis will not disappear from the map.[3]
- He actually has sequential "tasks" indicated by flags. Talking to Gordon Quick before he is done with his own questline will cause him to get stuck in front of the compound with no barks (waiting for Gordon) while Gordon and Max are celebrating at the Lucky Money.
- The entire interaction between Louis, the vendor, and Gordon consists of a sequence of five conversations.[4] Due to Louis' slow walk speed, the entire interaction takes some time to play out.
- According to data in the conversation files, it was intended that Louis would set fire to the news stand after his initial report to Gordon.[5] However, this does not actually occur in-game. Instead, the dialogue reveals that Louis merely stole money.
