"Story" menu options after unlocking New Game+

New Game+ (New Game Plus, often abbreviated as "NG+"), is an unlockable game mode in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided that enables the player to start a new game with the inventory and augmentations of a previously completed playthrough. New Game+ is available only for the main story, and is not available for DLC missions.

Unlocking[]

New Game+ is unlocked by completing a playthrough of the game at any difficulty level. Completing the game the first time generates a save file that serves as the basis for starting a New Game+. Then, upon selecting "story" in the main menu, the player will be given the option to select New Game+.

Completing the game again in normal mode (i.e., without using New Game+ or the "I Never Asked for This" difficulty level) will prompt the player on whether the player wishes to overwrite the existing New Game+ save file.

  • This prompt is not offered if the game is completed in New Game+ mode. Therefore, it is not possible to carry over the inventory and augmentations from a current New Game+ to a subsequent New Game+. In other words, it is not possible to "stack" New Game+ playthroughs.
  • Similarly, a playthrough on the "I Never Asked for This" difficulty level (which is unlocked only after completing an earlier playthrough) cannot be the basis of a New Game+.

Features[]

What carries over into New Game+[]

  • The player's entire inventory grid carries over into New Game+, including weapons and their upgrades.
    • DLC items that were placed in the inventory grid carry over.
    • New Game+ is equivalent to starting a normal new game for purposes of redeeming DLC items. Therefore, when starting a New Game+, a new copy of DLC weapons will be placed in the "storage" tab and will be available to be redeemed if desired. Please note that DLC consumables (unlike DLC weapons) are one-time-use items; once they are redeemed, they are not refilled when starting a New Game+ or a normal new game.
  • The player's experience points carry over.
  • The player's unspent money, praxis points, and crafting parts carry over.
  • All unlocked augmentations, including experimental augmentations and optional choices for augmentations, carry over into New Game+.
    • Experimental augmentations that were previously unlocked are available for use at the beginning of the first mission. If the player has unspent Praxis points, experimental augmentations that were not previously unlocked can be unlocked at any time, regardless of story progression.
    • System stability for experimental augmentations (if unlocked from the side mission "SM08: The Fix") carries over. System stability in New Game+ is ignored for purposes of the story. The player is free to complete "SM08: The Fix" once again—doing so will not provide any benefits towards augmentations, but will grant the player experience points as before.
    • If the Typhoon augmentation was unlocked, the player's choice in selecting whether to configure the Typhoon as lethal or non-lethal carries over. This choice is permanent and cannot be changed in a New Game+.

What does not carry over[]

  • Contents of Adam Jensen's apartment stash (i.e., the wall-mounted storage units in Adam Jensen's apartment) do not carry over.
  • The entire "database" section (emails, pocket secretary messages, eBooks, story item, and Breach software) does not carry over.

Other rules[]

  • When starting a New Game+, it is not possible to select the "I never asked for this" difficulty level. Therefore, it is not possible to obtain the I Never Asked for This achievement on a New Game+.
  • However, the Pacifist and Foxiest of the Hounds can be earned on a New Game+. New Game+ can make it significantly easier to obtain these achievements.
