A name plate with the name Nick Baldwin exists in Deus Ex resource files but is not actually used in the game. This name plate was designed for the UNATCO Headquarters maps, so it can be assumed that Nick Baldwin was intended be a high-level UNATCO operative, important enough to have his own office. The name plate texture was remade for Deus Ex: Invisible War, where it also went unused. Nick Baldwin is believed to be based on "Nick Baldo," a character concept found in design documents for Shooter: Majestic Revelations.

Prerelease concept[]

Nick Baldo is mentioned as a UNATCO (TLC at the time) agent on page 27 of the Shooter: Majestic Revelations design document v.5.3e, along with Diane Tisdale who was also cut from the game during development.

Nick Baldo's description in the Shooter: Majestic Revelations v6.4 document is as follows:

An ATC computer geek and hacker extraordinary. There are countless game situation that require the player to manipulate, search and/or reconstruct computer code and data. Nick's the guy who does this for you.

Appearance:
Nerdy, computer geek. Looks like a teenager but is actually in his mid-20s. Rail-thing, long fingers just right for keyboarding, hawk-nosed, shock of long, scraggly black hair. T-shirt with computer company logo, ripped black jeans, glasses. Wouldn't look out of place in a techno club of today except for one thing - he's into body modification. Not just tattoos or piercings (though those are fine) but neural jacks, minor body augmentations, RAM chip slots in skull... Nothing TOO obvious - he's subtle - but scars and small jacks wouldn't be out of line.
