"They'll always need someone to go out and die for a cause, if only to file up the civvies."
— Nigel Ashton on robots over human soldiers.

Nigel Ashton (also known as 'Nige') is an unique background character in The Missing Link DLC for Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Overview[]

Inside Loading Bay 1 of the Rifleman Bank Station (more specifically inside the upstairs loading office balcony) sit two Belltower light troopers. Nigel and an unnamed soldier. When approached, the two can be found having a discussion about the 80-X Boxguards & 'Mobile Turrets' with the soldier asking Nigel whenever the shipment of Mobile Turrets would be moved as they've been gathering dust for months. Nigel is unaware, however states they're impressive 'on the field' but it still required up to 2-3 men to deploy them.

The soldier replies that both box guards & Mobile Turrets could replace all human soldiers at Belltower as it'd just require one man at central command to control or deploy all of them. But Nigel calmly disagrees with his sentiment. Nearby on his personal computer are two separate email conversations. One automated one with RBS-BT_PORTAUTHORITY about shipping weapons & 'pods', another from colleague Jackson Andrews about Cargo Transfers, more specifically, Nigel telling Jack to try and convince Burke into letting him brainwash & own an asian woman all to himself.

Trivia[]

  • Although his official name is 'Nigel Ashton', his NPC model is still listed as 'Security Guard'.
  • Later when Burke betrays Keitner & sends his Spec Ops Soldiers to kill both her & Jensen, all other Belltower troopers disappear. Nigel's fate is unknown.
