Oleg Drago is a character that is mentioned in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Drago does not appear in the game. However, his apartment is part of the Rich Man Poor Aug point of interest.

Biography[]

Drago has an apartment in the upscale Čistá district of Prague. According to an intercepted communication from Palisade, Drago is a filthy rich trader who "seriously hates" augmented people; thus, Palisade should provide services to him only through non-augmented personnel.[1] One of Drago's colleagues similarly expresses anti-aug sentiments, blaming augs for depressing the financial markets when stocks in a company called Khondal Securities had to be liquidated after the company was discovered to be selling insurance to augs.[2]

Ironically, Drago himself is secretly augmented. He also suffers from headaches as a result of his augmentations. Drago's doctor advised him to seek an augmentations specialist. However, doing so would require him to register his augmentations, which would be detrimental to his career. As such, Drago can be described as a "rich man," but also a "poor aug."

Drago recently opened an account at the Palisade Property Bank that provides him with an executive safe. He received an invitation from account manager Tomas Romanek to visit the bank in-person with his biometric datastick to pick up the access card to the safes.

Drago's datastick can be found in his apartment. If Adam Jensen presents the datastick to Tomas Romanek, Romanek will mistakenly believe that Jensen is Oleg Drago. Romanek, who is prejudicial against augs in his initial conversation with Jensen, will be surprised, saying "Oh. I-I'm so sorry, sir. I didn't know you were a... I mean. I would have never..." Romanek will then provide Jensen with the keycard for Executive Safes A.

Developer notes[]

The game files of the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided includes the following design note, which reveals additional details behind the intended design of his backstory:

Email exchange between Oleg and some friends to whom he boasts heavily about his [financial] situation and ability to climb the ladder of society? [He] tells them about his future bank [executive] locker, his new business, his stock trading, and how he was able to manipulate one of the Bank's accountants in order to make himself a solid dossier. Implies that he used him and that this Dominik guy is so gullible because he's a loser who has not such a top notch job and would like to be more, like him, but [doesn't] succeed. Makes a reference to the meeting during which they met to explain his point. He also wonders if when he's a client he'll also be able to park in the bank's exclusive parking lot that is well [guarded] and is for important clients and employees only. Mentions that he saw it when Dominik gave him a tour of the area in his car. Wonders [if] he keeps valuables inside.[3]
