The PS20 is a single-use pistol skill weapon in Deus Ex. When used, the PS20 fires a single plasma bolt and is automatically discarded afterwards.

Description

The PS20 is a disposable, plasma-based weapon developed by an unknown security organization as a next generation stealth pistol. Unfortunately, the necessity of maintaining a small physical profile restricts the weapon to a single shot. Despite its limited functionality, the PS20 can be lethal at close range.

IN-GAME DESCRIPTION

Characteristics

The PS20 launches a single plasma bolt with perfect accuracy. The plasma bolt has a base damage of 8 and explodes over a blast radius when it hits the target. Because the plasma bolt is a projectile that causes an explosion on impact, the damage that it actually inflicts tends to be more than the base damage.

The PS20 is a single-use weapon and only one can be carried in the inventory at any given time. Due its single-use nature and unremarkable damage, the PS20 is generally considered to be one of the less practical weapons in the game.

Notes

• Prior to patch 1.104fm, the PS20 had a base damage of 40. Under patch 1.112fm, which is also the game version for the Game of the Year Edition, base damage was reduced to 8. For further information on changes to plasma bolt damage, see the main article for the plasma rifle.
