"Jensen. Uh... didn't hear you coming. You should--probably be heading for the helipad, don't you think?"
— Peterson timidly responding to Jensen interacting with him. |
Peterson is an unique minor character in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. He appears in the mission "Back in the Saddle".
Overview[]
On the ground floor of Sarif Industries Headquarters, under and behind the stairs near the bathroom will be Peterson and an unidentified Sarif employee. The two can be found having a discussion about Adam Jensen. With the Sarif Employee mentioning Jensen being sent to the Sarif Manufacturing plant to save hostages from terrorists. Peterson however disagrees stating it may be too early to send Jensen due his mental state probably not being sane however he mentions the Mexicantown Massacre and his departure from S.W.A.T. asking the employee why he was "kicked off the force" following up that Jensen was "too much of a risk".
The Players Input[]
The player has the option to interact with Peterson, doing either do not affect the main storyline however the player is given two options to respond to Peterson talking behind his back. Either INFORM or CONFRONT.
Inform[]
"Heard that, did you? Look--I'm sorry, its just that--what happened to you was horrible. Most people--don't recover this fast."
— Peterson's response towards Jensen if doing the informed route. |
If the player was to choose "Inform", after Peterson informs Jensen to go to the Helipad as Mr. Sarif was waiting, Jensen will sternly tell him he'll get there but wanted to clear a couple things first such as his "mental state". Peterson will respond apologetic trying to save grace however when confronted again he continues to backpedal to the first attack that happened months prior. Jensen agrees however mentions that the "massacre" was a BOHICA and he wasn't fired by anyone, as he left SWAT himself. Confused, Peterson asks if there was truly a difference. Jensen states that there was and informs him of "integrity" which was a word he should learn sometime.
Confront[]
"Hey, listen. I didn't mean anything by it. I'm just tense about the Milwaukee Junction situation. Everybody is."
— Peterson's "confront" dialogue. |
If the player was to choose "Confront", after Peterson informs Jensen to go to the Helipad as Mr. Sarif was waiting, Jensen will stubbornly ask Peterson to repeat what he said to his face. Peterson immediately apologizes ad mentions the horrific situation at Milwaukee Junction. Jensen then mocks Peterson in which Peterson shockingly denies however mentions the first attack six months prior while also both indirectly insults Jensen & mentioning his recovery. Jensen stubbornly responds by questioning his indirect insult with Peterson agreeing with him. Jensen states that he was glad to clear it up with him and coldly states that for the record, he wasn't kicked out of SWAT, he quit. Peterson mutters "that wasn't what the papers said" and Jensen followed his mutter up by stating that the papers can "lie". After this or the "Inform" dialogue, if Jensen were to interact with Peterson again he will tell Jensen he heard what he had to say & learned his lesson. If interacted with again, he'll repeat where the Helipad is located and that Dr. Sarif was awaiting for him.
