- This article is about the augmentation in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. For the augmentation in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, see Quicksilver Reflex Booster (DXHR).
Quicksilver Reflex Booster returns as an augmentation in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Just like in the previous game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, activating this augmentation will allow Adam Jensen to perform multiple takedowns on two targets if they're close enough together.
Description[]
- The Quicksilver Reflex Booster is essentially a supercharger for the human nervous system.
- The Booster works by activating the "attention" button in the parasympathetic nervous system. While activating the vagus nerve, burst of norepinephrine and acetylcholine flood the motor cortex and enabled rapid learning and re-learning, along with increased bursts of mental focus.
- This enables military personnel, athletes, and physical performers to execute quicker, more impressive feats of strength and dexterity.
- Perform more coordinated feats of strength and dexterity.
- Activation cost: 2 Praxis
- Activation: contextual
- Energy consumption: medium
Upgrades[]
Multiple Takedown[]
- When supported by the Eye Know Retinal Prosthesis, the Cybernetic Arm Prosthesis, and the Quicksilver Reflex Booster, the Palaestra[1] software upgrade supports the user during attempts to physically overpower two adversaries simultaneously.
- Body-tracking software in the module ties closely to the Cybernetic Arm Prosthesis, allowing the user to plan highly complex and precise physical acts, and carry them off with near 100% accuracy.
- Perform takedowns on two adjacent adversaries simultaneously.
- Upgrade requirement: Quicksilver Reflex Booster
- Activation cost: N/A
- Activation: contextual
- Energy consumption: medium
Notes[]
- Guards don't commonly patrol in pairs, or stand around corridors waiting for you to use it, making it more of an offensive tool than a "must have." Realistically, Jensen must setup ambushes and/or attack from the front to effectively use this aug.
- Despite saying multiple, Jensen can only do a double takedown. Therefore, the title Double Takedown may sound more appropriate.
- Most cutscenes jump directly to takedown middle to final part; skipping how Jensen begins.
- Unlike in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Mankind Divided has only 4 double takedown animations (2 for non-lethal and 2 for lethal) depending whether you attack enemies from the front or from the back.
Trivia[]
- "Quicksilver" is the common name of the chemical element mercury, which in turn was named after the Roman god Mercury, known for his speed and mobility.
- The name "Quicksilver" might also be a reference to the Marvel character Quicksilver who can move at superhuman speeds.
- The image of this augmentation is the Tiger hand seal from the Naruto series. In Naruto, hand seals are used to perform many jutsu, and some ninja can form seals so fast that their hand movements cannot be perceived normally.
