Sarah Mead is a cut character in Deus Ex. In prerelease concepts, Sarah is the daughter of United States president Philip Riley Mead and was planned to appear in multiple missions that were cut from the final game. After these missions were cut, all mentions of Sarah were also cut from the game. Sarah's unique character model remains in the game's assets, and was repurposed to portray generic characters, such as schoolgirls encountered in Tonnochi Road and the Lucky Money club in Hong Kong.

Development history

In the Shooter: Majestic Revelations precuror concept, Sarah was planned to appear in Mount Weather along with Philip Mead and other members of her family.

After the Mount Weather mission was cut, Sarah was planned to appear in the White House mission, which reportedly would have require the player to rescue her. However, the White House mission was also cut from the game.

Notes

• The Deus Ex Bible states that Sarah appears in the intro of Deus Ex. This statement is an oversight, as only Philip Mead and Rachel Mead actually appear in the intro.
