Scientist is the label for the ScientistFemale and ScientistMale classes of non-player characters (NPCs) in Deus Ex. Scientists are one of the most common NPCs encountered in the game, appearing in the Secret MJ12 Facility, the VersaLife headquarters labs, Vandenberg Air Force Base, the MJ12 Sub Base, and the MJ12 Missile Silo. Bodies of scientists can also be found in various other locations, including the Ocean Lab and Area 51.

Scientists have standard civilian-class attributes, including 100 HP as well as standard civilian-class behavior, such as fleeing when there is combat.
