Sporting Weapons Act was a landmark legal act passed by the United States Congress in 2042. Greatly restricting the right to own weapons and the Second Amendment (at least how it was interpreted in the late 20th century), the Act criminalized the possession of rifles, grenades, land mines, and other "collectibles". A nearly uniform refusal to surrender arms by state militas led to the formation of the National Secessionist Forces under the leadership of Leon Woods.[1]
