Squalnomie is a city or location in Washington state in the United States. Squalnomie is mentioned in one conversation in the Free Clinic in Deus Ex.
Background[]
During the Northwest War, the Northwest Secessionist Forces attacked the positions of the federal army at Squalnomie using thermoptic camo and apparently won. It became a traumatic event for the veterans and more so for the top brass.[1]
Trivia[]
- "Squalnomie" is a reference to the real-world city of Snoqualmie, Washington, located approximately 30 miles east of Seattle, located along the Snoqualmie Pass. Only the fictional name "Squalnomie," and not the name of the real-world location, appears in the game.
- The "Squal" portion of the name may have been a intended as a joke about the Seattle region's reputation for unending rain.
