In 2027, Stuart St. John is assigned by the World Health Organization (WHO) to investigate clinical trials of Riezene, a drug marketed as an alternative to Neuropozyne. He is assisted by Belltower, who has deployed their pilot Alex Vega to transport Stuart St. John for his assignments. From his investigations, he reports that patients involved in the clinical trial have experienced a variety of adverse reactions to the drug. He has also discovered that Belltower has been covering up the problems of the drug. However, the WHO has taken no action on his reports.
While staying at Hotel Etana in Panama City, Stuart St. John meets Ben Saxon, who warns the former that his life is in danger. St. John tells Saxon that he intends to go public on Picus to expose the risks of Riezene. Ironically and unbeknownst to St. John, Picus, Belltower, the WHO, and Riezene maker Zaaphire Biotech are all under the control of the Illuminati. While speaking with Saxon, St. John is assassinated by Tyrants member Sam Duarte.
