Thomas Dieter is a cut character that is referenced in one block of code in Deus Ex.[1] Nothing is known about Dieter except from that code block.
The code block indicates that when JC Denton is trying to contact Stanton Dowd, Dieter would appear somewhere on the streets of Hell's Kitchen if Harley Filben was dead. This implies that Harley Filben could be killed in earlier versions of Deus Ex, whereas Filben is invincible in the retail release and cannot be killed. The code block also indicates that Thomas Dieter would be portrayed using a model of a generic janitor.
No version of Deus Ex has Dieter placed in a level, so it is unknown where in Hell's Kitchen he would specifically spawn. However, spawning on the streets contrasts with Harley Filben, who is met in the Underworld Tavern in the retail release.
