The United Nations is an international organization. In the world of Deus Ex, the organization is controlled by the Illuminati and later, Majestic 12.

The United Nations has appeared in the Deus Ex series mostly through the actions of its substituent organizations, including the United Nations Anti-Terrorist Coalition and the World Health Organization (WHO).

History[edit | edit source]

The United Nations was founded as the successor to the League of Nations.[1]

In 2008, the United Nations in alliance with Versalife and various other biotech companies support the development of the Omega Ranch in Singapore.

In 2027, the WHO is involved in the recall of the biochip which led to the catastrophe at Panchaea. The head of the WHO is Elizabeth DuClare, a member of the Council of Five, indicating that the biochip recall was planned by the Illuminati and that the organization is controlled by them.

Later, the United Nations mandated Interpol to create Task Force 29 in response to the growing problem of international terrorism in the wake of the Aug Incident. The Task Force would serve as the foundations of UNATCO.

In 2029, the Illuminati are working on a United Nations resolution known as the Human Restoration Act.

In 2052, organizations such as the National Secessionist Forces (NSF) view the UN as a potential world government and the institution of UNATCO as the first true world army. Many of these constitutionalist and secessionist groups have called for the United States of America to leave the organization.
