"I once thought I could save the world... now look at it"
— Spoilers for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided follow!

The Whisper-Chip is a story item in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided that is used in M4: Checking Out TF29.
The whisper chip is a small, inconspicuous device custom-made by Janus to wiretap Task Force 29's NSN. Adam Jensen receives the chip from Alex Vega at the Růžička Station. Shortly before the station is bombed, Alex gives Jensen the task of finding a way to access TF29's NSN motherboard, where the Whisper Chip is to be planted.
Description[]
A technologically-advanced listening device created by Janus.
Use[]
During the mission M4: Checking Out TF29, Jensen will install the chip into the motherboard. To Vega's shock, he will do this while Jim Miller is using the NSN.
Notes[]
- Janus may have hacked the NSN prior to Jensen's installation of the whisper chip, as an email on a laptop near the NSN's motherboard states that the NSN is supposed to auto-clear history, but is not doing so because of "peculiarities."[1]
- Due to Janus providing the wrong algorithm for the frequencies, the data is left encrypted. Alex later fixes this, and decodes an audio file of Joseph Manderley ordering Miller to pin terror attacks on ARC.
