Yuen Kong was the leader of the Red Arrow Triad in Hong Kong prior to the events of Deus Ex.

Biography[]

Under Yuen Kong, the Red Arrow triads stole the original prototype of the Non-Eutactic Blade from Majestic 12. The weapon then became known as the "Dragon's Tooth sword," and Kong then claimed to be the sword's inventor.[1][2] The Dragon's Tooth sword would have given the Red Arrow an advantage over the Luminous Path triads. However, Kong was captured by Maggie Chow, who tortured him to recover the sword for Majestic 12.[3] Kong's body was later found floating in the water near the house of a boat person, who observed that Kong had a cauterized wound on his neck cause by a technologically advanced weapon.[4] Therefore, after Chow obtained the sword, she used it to kill Kong.

After Kong's death, Max Chen became the new leader of the Red Arrow triads. Chow framed the murder on the Luminous Path triads, thereby creating a war between the two triad factions to the benefit of Majestic 12. The local police suspect that Kong was murdered by Chow,[5] but the war between the triads is not resolved until JC Denton's intervention.

Notes[]

  • During the Hong Kong mission, JC eventually discovers that Maggie Chow stole the Dragon's Tooth sword and murdered Yuen Kong. While JC can comes to this conclusion solely by finding the sword, other evidence of Chow's involvement can also be found. For example, at the Hong Kong Canals, JC can talk to the boat person who found Kong's body floating in the water near his house.
  • There's also a datacube in Maggie Chow's apartment in the sword room, on the left of the holocomm, that includes a recording between Kong and Chow. In the recording, Chow cuts off Kong's finger, torturing him to get information on where the sword is located.
