This article is about the pistol in Mankind Divided. For the Human Revolution pistol or Mankind Divided's stun gun, see Zenith and Zenith ZAP.

The Steiner-Bisley CA-4 Zenith Pistol, also known as the CA-4 10mm and labeled in-game as 10mm Pistol, is a weapon in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. The Zenith CA-4 is a derivative of the Zenith 10mm pistol that appeared in Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Characteristics[]

The Zenith CA-4 pistol is a highly convenient and versatile weapon due to its small inventory size and readily available ammunition, as well as its the ability to accept a silencer, fire EMP rounds, and fire in an alternate full-auto firing mode when upgraded.

  • The addition of a silencer reduces the weapon's nominal damage rating by 5. However, the actual silencer penalty is an approximately 25% reduction in damage, both at base damage and with full damage upgrades.[1]
  • EMP rounds can be used to disable security cameras, before destroying them using regular rounds. This can be done stealthily if a silencer is attached.
  • Like most weapon in the game, the Zenith CA-4 supports a laser sight, which increases accuracy, especially for hip firing.
  • The unlockable full auto mode enables the weapon to fire very rapidly, similar to the Hurricane TMP-18 machine pistol.

At close range, the Zenith CA-4 pistol's actual damage per shot is superior to both the machine pistol and the standard combat rifle, despite having a lower nominal damage rating than those weapons. Furthermore, the damage penalty from attaching the silencer is less than that of machine pistol. However, damage drop-off over distance is more severe than the combat rifle.[1] Therefore, at longer distances, the standard combat rifle (when using regular ammo) will overtake the pistol in damage per shot. Additionally, the pistol has a maximum range of only 35 meters, which further limits its effectiveness at long distances.

Even without upgrades, this weapon kills unarmored NPCs very quickly. Two leg shots are enough to defeat armed NPCs of low durability, such as Mikael's bodyguards. Tars' bodyguards, who are some of the weakest armed NPCs in the game, die to a single body shot, while Dvali gangsters usually take 2 shots to the chest, sometimes 3. Since just a few shots will dispose of low-durability enemies, aiming for the head is not necessary unless trying to maintain stealth. Police in light tactical gear can withstand 3 or 4 shots to the stomach, or 2 shots to the less protected parts on their back.

However, the Zenith CA-4 is far less capable against targets that are considered "armored," which include personnel displayed with a vest icon when viewed in Jensen's smart vision. Against armored police, about 12 body shots at point-blank, or 15 shots at about 25 meters, are needed. Similarly, Sentry bots, EXO-suits, and turrets require a great deal of ammunition to take down.

While the automatic fire mode is not as controllable as that of the machine pistol, it is possible to do two taps to destroy cameras, triple taps to kill helmeted opponents, and repeated bursts of roughly 12 rounds against tougher targets. The dry reload on the pistol is lengthy, so it is preferable to reload before the magazine is completely empty. Automatic fire mode benefits from cybernetic weapon handling, which permits reloads in less than half a second, with no perceived recoil if you're crouched and iron sighted, along with great accuracy on the move, and minimal spread when firing. However, getting a pistol like this is expensive in crafting material.

Variants[]

Acquisition[]

  • The standard Zenith CA-4 is a common weapon found throughout the game.
  • Every armed NPC in the game has an unlimited supply of Zenith CA-4s. This can be observed by knocking out any armed person and allowing him or her to be revived by the friend. Once the armed person is revived, he or she will carry a fresh pistol.
  • Sold by Tars Rytíř.

Instances with non-standard reload values[]

A handful of pistols found in the game have a reload value of 80, as opposed to the default 50. Pistols with non-standard reload values include:

  • Miloš Awadalla's pistol, which you can claim after neutralizing him during the Mystery Stalker point of interest.
  • On a new game+, pistols with boosted reload rates occasional spawn on Drahomir or one of the nearby guards who carries a pocket secretary.
  • In System Rift, found in a weapon case in the secret room of ShadowChild's apartment. Can only be obtained prior to the objective "Go to ShadowChild's apartment."
  • In A Criminal past, a fully loaded, fully upgraded, and modded pistol with boosted reload rate is hidden at the top of the elevator complex, inside a Teddy.
  • Daria Myška will wake up from getting knocked out with one, complete with silencer, laser sight, and maxed out ammo capacity upgrade. This contrived scenario is only possible if you talk her down peacefully, wait for Montag to interview her, then strike as they're done talking. If you keep knocking her out, and let Montag revive her, you can have an infinite number of these pistols.

Warning: Dropping a non-standard reload pistol to the ground and picking it back up will result in the reload speed to reset to the standard 50.

Notes[]

  • This weapon is called "Steiner-Bisley's CA-4 10mm" in its own inventory description and "Steiner-Bisley CA-4 Zenith Pistol" in the inventor description for the elite edition. The texture on the weapon model displays "CA-40", which is referred to as the receiver of the weapon in the inventory description for the Zenith ZAP.
  • Against NPCs carrying this weapon, Adam with default durability upgrades dies after 6 shots from this weapon.
  • The unlimited supply of pistols for armed NPCs can be exploited with a bit of management to farm for pistol ammunition and/or crafting parts if the player has the Micro-Assembler augmentation.

Trivia[]

  • The CA-4 retains much of the old Zenith's aesthetics, but now features a squared backstrap with an internal striker system akin to Glock pistols that enables it to use firing mode modifications.
